Denis Sungho (드니성호) is a Belgian-Korean guitarist, composer and producer.
Trained in the classical tradition, he has gradually stepped away from the traditional repertoire to focus on his own work.
His music is built on melody and structure, with a particular attention to tone. It often reduces to what is essential, where each element is exposed and nothing is added unnecessarily.
He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie and the Concertgebouw, as well as the Seoul Arts Center and Kioi Hall. He was named a Rising Star by the European Concert Hall Organisation. His recordings are released internationally by Universal Music.

Denis Sungho (드니성호) is a Belgian-Korean guitarist, composer and producer.
Trained in the classical tradition, he has gradually stepped away from the traditional repertoire to focus on his own work.
His music is built on melody and structure, with a particular attention to tone. It often reduces to what is essential, where each element is exposed and nothing is added unnecessarily. The guitar is not treated as a fixed instrument, but as part of a wider field of sound.
Born in Korea and adopted by a Belgian family at an early age, Denis Sungho has grown between cultures and contexts. This distance, never fully resolved, underlies his work. Without being explicitly addressed, it informs a way of listening and shaping sound.
He began playing guitar at the age of seven and won his first competition at fourteen. He studied at the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Mons, working primarily with Odair Assad and also with Sergio Assad. From this foundation, his work progressively shifted toward composition.
His practice does not follow a fixed format, moving between written pieces and broader musical projects. It reflects a dialogue between European musical culture and Korean sensitivity, without belonging to a single form.
He has performed in major concert halls worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Seoul Arts Center and Kioi Hall in Tokyo. Named a Rising Star by the European Concert Hall Organisation, he was also the first guitarist invited to the Martha Argerich Festival in Lugano.
He has collaborated with artists such as Yiruma, Egberto Gismonti, Debbie Wiseman and John Metcalfe, as well as with singers including Sumi Jo, Anna Tsuchiya, Insooni, Park Jiyoon, Kim Bumsoo and Lim Sunhae.
His recording Elegiaco Concerto, dedicated to Leo Brouwer, has been described as “historical” and is considered among the most significant recordings in the classical guitar repertoire.
In 2025, he conceived and co-produced in Korea a series of multidisciplinary performances with Bernard Werber, the Sejong Soloists and flutist Jasmine Choi, bringing together literature, orchestra and guitar.
Alongside his artistic work, he has directed large-scale cultural projects, including the musical direction of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang and the creation of Korea’s first New Year’s Gala with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta.
His recordings are released internationally by Universal Music.
The birth of his daughter marked a shift in his direction, reinforcing his focus on what is essential.
He performs on a guitar built by Thomas Humphrey and supports humanitarian work as a Companion of Médecins Sans Frontières.
